Nobody Should See A Little Girl “Killin’ It”

First I would like to say that the little girls in the video were obviously talented.  They have put a lot of time and a considerable amount of hard work into learning and memorizing their choreography.  The fact that they have the ability to memorize such complex moves is pretty amazing considering how old they are.  It is my understanding that they are seven and eight year olds.  They each have the potential to become professional dancers.  Unfortunately, that future dancing probably includes a lap dance in the middle of a bar with a clientele that wouldn’t appreciate their talent as much as they would appreciate their undeveloped sexuality.  Little girls should never be trained, let alone encouraged, to be so sexually provocative.

Maybe I’m not as liberally minded as I pretend to be.  I will be the first to say that people should feel to express themselves in all their sexuality if they choose to do so and can do it in a responsible manner with the full understanding of its implications.  However, I do believe that little girls as young as seven aren’t anywhere close enough to make that kind of informed decision for themselves.  The parents of these little girls should have an inherent love for their daughters to protect them and to make sure that these girls learn the proper respect for themselves and for their bodies before they learn such body contorting earthiness.

The dancing was bad enough.  But the dancing is complimented with outlandishly skimpy two piece outfits with fringes to give the bodies of these undeveloped little girls something to shake in a provocative manner.  No boobs to shake?  Not a problem.  Put some fringe across their flat chest and people will see that they can move with the best of them.  And the fishnet sleeves on their arms really help to drive home the image of hyper sexuality.

When I saw the girl’s dance routine on the television news, it was accompanied by a video clip of the parents of one of the girls defending the dance routine.  Essentially, their attitude was that people should get over it.  The parents broke no law and the young girls’ dancing is no different that some of the highly suggestive dancing other girls have done before.  The fact that these girls take it to a new level and do it better than it has ever been done before is nobody’s concern.

In the same video, there was a clip of Oprah Winfrey’s protégé Dr. Phil McGraw of Dr. Phil fame weighing in on the subject   He put it best when he said that all over the world there were pedophiles downloading the video for their private use later.  It is true that what these girls do on stage is nobody else’s business.  But as soon as somebody makes a threat against one of these girls, as soon as some pedophile tries to do a JonBenét Ramsey reenactment, these same parents that are saying that people should mind their own business will more than likely plead for the public’s help to find their daughter or find justice for their daughter.  Suddenly, they will need all of our help and will paint their daughter as a sweet and innocent little girl who just so happens to have a history of sexual stimulation with pole dancer moves.

The sad thing is that these girls are innocent.  Hopefully, the programming that they’re receiving now can be reversed and they can go back to just being the type of little girls that don’t think about being single ladies.  There’s plenty of time for that.

Like most children, these girls will be come into their sexuality soon enough.  Hopefully, it will happen naturally and gradually and will grow as their mental maturity grows and as their bodies grow.  And as all these components that influence their character grows, these girls will have to learn how to balance it all within themselves.  No one component should be allowed to artificially dominate and take center stage so overwhelmingly.  The pun was totally intended.  If these girls continue down their current path it is only a matter of time before they become a train wreck with catastrophic consequences.

I may be wrong, but considering how this story is breaking into the public’s awareness, I would imagine that these girls are suddenly getting a lot of attention.  That alone can set their world spinning.  Hopefully, the spin can be controlled.  Hopefully the parents of these girls will recognized the need to dial back their sexuality and try to put a more age appropriate perspective on things.  I for one certainly hope so.  Nobody should be happy about little girls as young as seven years old “killin’ it”.
