Peace Regarding BART police murder of young black men; in the early 1990’s a prominent African-America, Mr. Hall’s ( a Fire Chief) 19 year old son was murdered by a BART policeman. Tragedy that no-one has mentioned this.

You have a very good point. We should take the time to learn more about Oscar Grant. I’m afraid that too many people may already be writing him off as some kind of trouble maker. It’s standard procedure to blame the black victim.

Thank you for your article, I have been doing my share of research and I have concluded that in order to create true impressions from the death of Oscar Grant, we need to create a true impression of Oscar Grant himself…
a positive one at that.
Who was he and what could he have done for himself and for others if he had not died within the first two hours of this new year?
For those who did not know him personally, including myself,
who was Oscar Grant?!

Of course this man will be found not guilty. He will be given every benefit of a doubt without a second thought. Would black people be given such grace? I don’t think so.

Rosa Parks only had to spend time in jail to start a protest. Fifty years later unarmed black men are shot cold blooded, gangsta style and all people will do is protest for a day or two. If the black community could only get back to supporting each other this type of thing would cease. But fat chance that happens.

Not only was he on the ground with his back to them, he was in handcuffs. So exactly why would you be tasering a handcuffed person?

And to start protesting is just a waste of time. The only protest these idiots will understand is to withhold our money. Don’t go near that freaking BART and they will understand that this isn’t going to be accepted as business as usual.

I am sure that if we as a community start denying our hard earned dollars people will take notice. But of course no one wants to be inconvenienced. And there lies the problem.
