Thanks for the feedback Oludare Akinola,

While it is true that the majority of black models are lighter complexioned and have some mix of European blood in their ancestry, ain't nothing mulatto about Alek Wek!

I feel that having an all black issue of Vogue is a form of segregation. The media doesn`t portray many real black people anyway.Instead they use mulattoes, and people that are about one percent black. If you look closely you will find that these mulattoes actually do better in the entertainment industry than people that are predominently black.

Thanks for the feedback asabagna,

I didn't think of its correlation to the sports industry. Is this just another manifestation of the Forty Million Dollar Slaves mentality where instead of strong black men being taken advantage of for their strength or speed, it is the black woman being propagandized for her beauty?

Thought-provoking perspective! The fashion industry, like the sports industry, has a lot of impact in the Black community, both positive and negative. Or are we "programmed" to think and feel that they are? hmmmmm?
