The White Sentinel
The Black Sentinel is a WordPress blog written by a conscious black woman that is focused on motherhood, the African American community, and spirituality. The blog is relatively new but appears to have already developed into a popular site for people to learn a little something about issues of race disparity and those related to the safety our children. This sister has posted a number of links to my blog and comes here often to share her thoughts on what I write. I do my best to return the favor whenever I can. But I learn a lot more there than she probably learns from me. I also notice a number of other bloggers in the black blogosphere, as well as a number of non black internet surfers, pay a visit to the Black Sentinel’s site on a regular basis.
Unfortunately for the Black Sentinel the topics that she writes about attract a lot of white people who take issue with what she says. There was the post about discrimination in the video game industry in Resident Evil 5 Outbreaks of Racism. The post was an observation that the new version of Resident Evil is placed in a setting where white people shoot black people. The Black Sentinel goes on to say that the Resident Evil series is a favorite and how she would eventually get a copy. But the white gamers were so offended they launched a campaign to bombard the post with comments saying how much they enjoy the chance to run through the streets killing black people.
In the post Idaho Isn’t Racist Enough, a black man in Idaho attending college and playing football had just made a marriage proposal to his white cheerleader girlfriend after winning some crucial game. White people wrote comments in the local paper about how the racism in Idaho isn’t strong enough to keep black men from marrying their pretty white girls. Again, a lot of people weren’t kosher with the observation and the people were attacking the Black Sentinel for denying white people their freedom of speech to slander the black community.
And in the post Quiet Racism, the Black Sentinel had written a response to a white blogger’s post about his observations with other white people who were making racial jokes about black people. All of these people were executives in the corporate community who were very influential on who was hired and promoted in their company. White people felt so threatened from this post that they had to comment their support for the executive racist who obviously didn’t have much respect for the black community. The Black Sentinel shouldn’t be pointing out the fact that these captains of industry could actually be predisposed to think less of black people.
One particular visitor was so enamored with the Black Sentinel that he decided to become the White Sentinel. However, this is not a blog written by a conscious mind. The White Sentinel’s purpose is to counter the hate of white people being exhibited by the Black Sentinel. Now I have yet to see the Black Sentinel say anything that indicates a hatred of white people. Yes there are occasions where a person with a white mindset does something that can cause black people to hate them. Bill O’Reilly, Don Imus, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and John Mc-Whore-ter, come to mind. But the Black Sentinel has never written a statement expressing blanket hatred of white people.
However, the White Sentinel feels that these observations are simply too distasteful towards the white community for his white sensibilities. He perceives the Black Sentinel’s comments as an attack against the white community and wants to provide an opposing view. But this is how the White Sentinel introduces himself to the blogosphere. “lol I found a WordPress blog belonging to a racist nigger bitch called the Black Sentinel so I decided to fuck with her a little bit by making a WordPress called the White Sentinel. Be sure and post comments in her blog with links to mine.”
The White Sentinel prominently displays a picture of a night rally by the members of the Ku Klux Klan in all their regalia with the American flag waving in the breeze. The first article for this blog of white enlightenment is titled Slavery is Black People’s Fault. It is the White Sentinel’s theory that the Europeans who participated in the trade of enslaved Africans were the victims of various African kings who wanted to make money off the trade of Africans from other tribes. Since the Africans didn’t have any concept of money or capitalism at the time one must wonder what these kings, who were already in control of what was happening in their tribe community, were doing with all this new found wealth.
The White Sentinel goes on to explain that the Africans who were stolen from their homeland had it better than the Africans who stayed because the people who stayed in Africa were indiscriminately having their limbs hacked off. Africans who had the fortunate circumstance to come to America only had to pick a little cotton. According to this post, “White people never enslaved anyone.”
Essentially, this is just another bitter white person who sees an attack against white privilege and is pulling hateful, racist propaganda out of their ass and looking for support from the dominating white corporate culture. Funny thing is this white racist has more support for his asinine theories and conjectures than anyone realizes. White people’s hatred for black people is real, it is thick, and it has manifestations of subjugation for the black community. This racist will be able to go and get a job in the corporate work force without ever having to answer too many questions about his white ethnicity.
On the other hand black people who go and get jobs have to contend with automatic assumptions that they are too attached to their racial identity to be considered appropriate for corporate America. This white racist, and others just like him, who is obviously preaching for the protection of white privilege, is far more likely to one day be in a position to influence who is hired and/or who gets promoted in corporate America. The racist mindset that is fabricating a perception that white people are totally innocent in the subjugation of black people today will be the same mindset that will fabricate any reason necessary to keep a black person out of a job or a promotion.
The White Sentinel is doing his best to keep the hatred and subjugation of black people as intense as possible. In other words, racism in America is far from dead. There are a lot of White Sentinels waiting to do their part in the white community’s campaign for the continuation of black subjugation. Thankfully, people like the Black Sentinel will counter the hateful propaganda from these white mindset people with more intelligent and thoughtful messages on behalf of the black community.
