Black Community Redemption

In the struggle between black and white people there needs to be a movement for the redemption of the black community. Like any movement, the salvation of the black community can start with a single individual who is focused on his or her convictions and with the ability to infect others with his or her ideas. But trust me, I am happy to say that I suffer absolutely no delusion thinking I can inspire others into a movement. There is no “Moses” syndrome here. I have no intention of going to the white, corporate pharaohs and asking them to let black people go.
But what would be nice is to inspire more people in the black community to take more responsibility to learn their African and their African American history. In my opinion this is merely the first step towards our redemption. The more black people learn from our history with white people and, more importantly, our history before our ancestors encountered white people, it is my hope that more of us would learn and understand that it is in our best interest to separate ourselves from and/or limit our interaction with the white community as much as possible.
The Black Sentinel just put up an article entitled Death Penalty Becomes the New Lynching. In this article the author points out a connection between the states with a history of lynching black people and the death penalty. Very interesting stuff. Without knowing our history we assume this form of judicial racism from states like Texas is a relatively new phenomenon. But it’s just been updated to be condoned now like it was condoned then. We all know the saying about if we forget our history we are doomed to repeat it. This is an actual example of it coming to life.
I have to confess that all I know for certain is that the best first step is for more black people to learn their history. I have more ideas for the betterment of the black community. I have ideas that I believe could provide the black community with better health, finances, education, and such. But before these ideas can be put into action, more black people have to be willing to entertain the idea that something is wrong with the system, and more black people need to be willing to help in the fight to correct the situation.
Not everybody agrees with this line of thinking. A lot of people are more than happy to sit back and poke holes in this theory. People black and white would be more than happy to give the government the benefit of a doubt when it comes to its lack of planning and logistics with their pitiful planning in the preparation and execution of the war on terror. But let a black man have an idea on how to empower more black people to start thinking about the process of returning the black community to the black community he’d better have every “T” crossed and every “O” closed and every “X” slashed and every “I” dotted.
A single man cannot hope to be the sole architect of a plan to repair the damage to the entire black community, especially when there were so many people working so very hard for so very long to minimize the problems associated with the black community and the ideas to help the black community. It will take a bunch of people to redeem the black community from the white corporate community. After all, regardless of the derision to the theory of a white conspiracy, it took a lot more than just a single man four hundred years or more to develop the hell holes where entire communities of black people dwell.
The process to develop the salvation of the black community will take the input of a lot of people. My hope is not to cover every nook and cranny. That would be foolish and a waste of time. Besides, it isn’t always prudent to plan for every last detail. If people think the logistics associated with providing some kind of relief to so many black people in a single location after a hurricane was too much for an entire government agency with deep financial pockets, it’s stunning to think that people would expect a single man to plan the logistics of the black community’s redemption from coast to coast. If people can tolerate an entire country going to war without having a plan for the basic things like an exit strategy I’m sure people can tolerate my plan to teach people to learn from their history as simply the first step.
My hope is to have enough people tune in to what exactly is happening all around us. Turning on the television and seeing entire worlds of white people with just one if any minorities is an indication that something is wrong. The world is much more racially diverse than the propaganda emitted from the various worlds of corporate media. Walk into any corporate office and the fact that the vast majority of people are white with just one or two if any minorities is another indication that something may be wrong.
Not every white person is the problem. Many white people are not. Not every black person is a victim. Many black people are not. My arguments are made in generalities. There are black people who are far more damaging to the integrity of the black people than any white person could ever hope to be. But this is to be expected. The black community is under a very serious and relentless attack and a lot of people, both black and white, have been manipulated, whether nefariously or innocently, into performing in the service of the white, corporate community.
I don’t pretend to have all the answers. If this means my integrity as a black man concerned about the integrity of the black community is in question then so be it. I don’t have all the answers. I never said I did and more than likely I never will.
